The ethnographic objects of the permanent collection originate from two sources. One is constituted by pieces that formed part of the old 'Museo indígena', located in the installations of the school 'Pío XI' of Port Ayacucho and whose material was collected by the salesian missionaries through several decades.
The origin of these pieces is unknown, however they are unique because they are objects which are not manufactured in present day.
The complement of the permanent collection is integrated by pieces which were acquired for this museum, in the preparation phase as well as during the year and a half that we have of existence.
The acquisition of collections is carried out because it is a job inherent to the development of the museum, and fundamentally, in our case, is motivated by some indians which visit us, and who desire to see their hall decorate with the most representative items of their ethnic group.
