YE'KWANA

Culture and life style

The Ye' kwana are heirs bearers of a culture created inside the tropical jungles. They are adapted to the environment as product of the deep knowledge of the ecosystems that successive generations have derived from its experiments with that environment. Their survival is based on migratory agriculture and is reinforced with hunts, fishing and recollection; which functions for small populations; which gives them social equality and political descentralization.

The Ye' kwana have never lived in large concentrations but they are startegically dispersed to be able to take better advantage of the resources that are dispersed in the tropical forest. Each community controls a territory, and takes advantage of a certain part to extract resources, while in the remainder they maintain reserved zones. This permits the regeneration of the soil and of the biota.
