The museum's library is also part of the legacy
which Franz Mayer endowed to the people of Mexico. It is
a magnificent collection for researching the arts and the
applied arts. The library also includes important titles
on the history of Mexico.
The collection features numerous rare editions, many of which can be considered true works of art due to the nature of their content, typography, binding and detailed work in vermilion. The library also contains one of the most complete collections of Don Quixote's which includes more than 600 different editions of the classic by Cervantes. |
The board of trustees plans to continue expanding the collection so as to eventually create a specialized art library which emphasizes the applied arts.
