We the Uhuothoj'a have the custom of celebrating a warime party every three years. The party is carried out to celebrate a great crop and the good marriages of the members of the community. Sometimes it is celebrated because the yuhuäwärua gives in inheritance to his better son or son in law his authority in the town. This party is organized by the yuhuäwärua. During the celebration musical instruments such as the chuvó, voraá, kingó, and buotsa are played. |
Guests attend the warime party . Doctors Uhuothoj'a , friends and other people of the region come.
The musical instruments are not handled by all the people. Only those persons authorized by the yuhuäwärua and meñerua can play the musical instruments.
During the warime party is a celebration with various sacred objects. Songs are played that relate to the job of the Creator Rua-Wahari when he helped to make the world.
The masks are done similar to the "chácharos" because they were invented that way by Rua-Wahari. Rua-Wahari made the masks as the head of a "chácharo" so that his sister Chejeru did not know that who was dancing and who was singing so pretty was her own brother.
During the warime party we have two types of dances: The dance reré, where men and women participate taken by the shoulders. The music is executed with seashells reré and serves to initiate the warime party .
The warime dance is only carried out for men. In this dance participate masked people. It reminds of sacred events.
The most important point of the party is when they play the musical instruments called warime, vorá, and chuvó. In that moment the voices of the First Creators, Rua-Wahari and Buoká are remembered.
Our sacred musical instruments are the vorá, warime, chuvó, buotsa and andäjo. The nonsacred instruments are the maraca, the bone of deer and the flute called suriyäudochu.
For these parties the Uhuothoj'a adorn ourselves with white, black, and red painting. This party can last up to two months.
